Jan in conversation

Jan is doing his apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at the STORK Group in Magdeburg. He is currently in his 2nd year of training.

How did you find out about STORK?

While I was doing my A-levels, I went to careers information fairs. I found the industrial clerk apprenticeship very interesting. I then did a lot of research on the Internet and that's how I found out about STORK.

Your apprenticeship in one or two sentences?

My apprenticeship is very exciting and varied.

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship at STORK?

Among other things, STORK stands for environmental awareness and attaches great importance to regionality. These are both values that I also share and drew my attention to the company. As I grew up here, went to school and was in a club for over 10 years, I also wanted to do my training here and thus make my contribution to Saxony-Anhalt. I chose STORK pretty quickly.

How did you find the application phase?

Quick, relaxed and authentic.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I'm currently in the "Technical Purchasing" department. I particularly like the wide range of tasks there. Here you procure goods and services for the various departments of the company, compare and negotiate prices and obtain and commission quotations. My favorite part is comparing the various offers from different points of view and thus getting the best price-performance ratio for the company.

What interests should you have for your apprenticeship?

You should have a healthy degree of flexibility due to the changes in the various departments. During your apprenticeship, you will have to familiarize yourself with the different areas of responsibility again and again. It is therefore also important to have the necessary ambition and motivation as well as teamwork and communication skills. From time to time, you will be given more and more tasks that you will have to complete independently. To do this, you should also be responsible and independent.
