Katharina is training as an office management assistant at the STORK Group in Leipzig. She is currently in her 3rd year of training and is preparing for her exams.

Your apprenticeship in one or two sentences?

I find the apprenticeship very exciting because you get to see a lot of different areas and you go through the whole process of the company, from writing quotations to scheduling, weighing and invoicing.

Why did you choose this profession ?

I chose it because I like working on the computer a lot and I really enjoy working with customers.

Why did you decide to train at STORK?

I chose it because I lived on site and I really liked the team.

How did you experience the application phase?

I had the job interview about six weeks before the apprenticeship started and then spent a day there for a trial period. After signing my training contract, I started my training as an office management assistant on September 1, 2020.

What were your first days at the company like?

I first had a tour of the company and was introduced to all the employees. I was then given a step-by-step introduction to my tasks.

What does a typical working day as an apprentice at STORK look like?

I currently work in the accounts department and answer emails, scan incoming invoices or process them in our system, write outgoing invoices and deal with customer concerns.

What do you particularly enjoy and why would you recommend this apprenticeship?

I would recommend the apprenticeship at STORK because you get a different insight into recycling and can experience it for yourself. You get to see the whole process and know where it comes from, how it is processed and where it ends up. For example, at the landfill or in a waste-to-energy plant.

What do you particularly like about the training company?

Personal initiative is very much encouraged and appreciated and you have a lot of personal responsibility.

What do you want for your professional future? Do you already have specific ideas?

I would like to stay at STORK after my apprenticeship, as I really enjoy the work and have been integrated into a great team.
